The Auckland Road Maintenance Alliance (ARMA) is
responsible for maintaining and replacing the roads and footpaths
across the most intensive section of Auckland's transport network.
Their area includes Auckland's Central Business District and
everything west of Dominion Road to the old Waitakere border.
ARMA's core responsibilities are to maintain and replace:
- 454 km of roads
- 1.9 million m² of footpaths
- 25,081 signs
- 7 km of cycleway
- 50 bridges
- 30,000 + catchpits
The intensity in the ARMA network is equal to that experienced
by cities outside of New Zealand. Items of note include;
20,000 pedestrians per day in the CBD, numerous intersections with
more than 50,000 vehicles per day and one intersection with 115,000
vehicles per day.
